plans for the future
A School cannot sit still and we have many projects in the planning stages which will improve the facilities of the School, the curriculum we offer and the opportunities for the pupils and our many friends and supporters.
The redevelopment of the swimming pool will begin in Septmeber 2009. It will be extended to fifteen metres in length and will be covered with a permanent structure. This facility will enable the school to include swimming in the curriculum all the year round and to provide aerobic exercise for all the pupils irrespective of the weather. We are very grateful to the DCSF for a grant to make this redevelopment possible.
For the first time since the School moved into Millfield in 1964, the Governors have decided to apply for planning permission to build a new house for the Headmaster. We hope that this will be constructed during the later part of 2009 and be completed in 2010.
Other plans included the relocation of the football pitch to the field below the Menuhin Hall Car Park and the construction of a footpath and running track around the grounds.
In the longer term we are planning to build new Music Teaching studios and practice rooms to replace those currently located within the Middle Block.
We are also planning some exciting projects within the Menuhin Hall which will enable even wider access to the amazing concerts we present.
