The Friends of The Yehudi Menuhin School

The Friends of The Yehudi Menuhin School was founded in 1971, seven years after the School relocated to Stoke d’Abernon. The newly formed group was created by Lord Menuhin together with a few local supporters of the School. Later that year the Friends enjoyed a launch party held in the gardens of Slyfield House.

The first concert for the Friends took place in the summer of 1972 in Slyfield Barn and since then the Friends have enjoyed many concerts in the Barn, in various venues in London, and of course in The Menuhin Hall.

The Friends provide our pupils with a highly supportive audience; they are a local and familiar group of encouraging patrons who share a love of music performed by talented young musicians. Many of our Friends enjoy following the journey of our pupils as they progress through the School and into the wider world as professional musicians.

The Friends also support our pupils financially in various ways, whether through student bursaries for pupils who struggle to afford the fees, student aid which helps students attend holiday courses with specialist teachers, or by funding projects which directly enhance the students’ lives.
